Don’t Forget to Cast Your Vote!

If you are a rank-and-file member who joined prior to August 27 and have not yet cast your vote, voting ends Friday, November 7 at 5:00pm.

You should have received your unique link from BallotPoint sent to the preferred email address you have on file with CASE (make sure to check your spam folder).

To obtain a replacement ballot by EMAIL, send an email as follows:

  • From: The email address that CASE provided to BallotPoint which should be the email address that CASE has on file as your preferred email address
  • To: orion@ballotpoint.com
  • Subject: VOTE

After sending the email, you should receive an email from BallotPoint, usually in less than 30 seconds (you may need to refresh your email program or check your spam folder). Click the link in that email to display your ballot.

You will also receive an email confirming that your vote was successfully submitted (check your spam folder).

If you are unsure whether your vote was successful, you can click on the voting link you received again.  The system will not allow multiple votes from the same voter, so if you cannot vote again, then your prior attempt was recorded.

If you receive an error message, it is most commonly because the vote is timed out.  Some state computer systems time out your visit more quickly than others, so you may wish to access the link via your phone or personal computer.

Please contact elections@calattorneys.org if you have trouble accessing your ballot.

CASE Receives a Positive Audit Report

Each year, CASE’s finances are audited under generally accepted auditing principles, the gold standard for financial audits. CASE is pleased to report that we received a clean audit. Some highlights below:

  • CASE continues to build reserves and strengthen its long-term financial position. Net assets increased 5 percent in the second year of net positive results.
  • Membership revenue is stable, and investment and interest earnings continue to contribute meaningfully, with net revenue increasing 2%
  • CASE’s investment strategy remains conservative yet productive
  • Expenses are well-controlled and aligned with organizational priorities
  • The board’s fiscal oversight is sound, and working as intended

Overall, CASE’s financials are strong, and the organization well-positioned for the work to come.

CASE in Review

This year CASE has been hard at work for each and every member. Below is a summary of our activity to date.

October 31, 2025 CASE Files

Appellate Court Victory

CASE recently secured a unanimous victory in the Third District Court of Appeal against CalHR for refusing to agree to arbitration on a compensation dispute impacting several dozen BU2 members.

After CASE’s grievance was met with a refusal to arbitrate the matter, CASE filed a petition to compel arbitration in superior court.  The trial court denied the petition, but CASE kept fighting for its members and filed an appeal.  Although appellate practitioners know it is hard to secure a reversal on appeal, CASE persisted and the decision by the three-justice panel is a clear message to CalHR that CASE will never stop fighting for its members.  Due to the extraordinary efforts of CASE we were able to beat the odds and bring home this victory.

The decision allows CASE to proceed with arbitration on a claim that could put real money into the pockets of our members who were erroneously denied what CASE believes is compensation due to our affected members.
