CASE BOARD OF DIRECTORS UPDATE

CASE Advocates On-Air. CASE again publicly advocated for a sensible state telework policy in this Tuesday night report on ABC News 10 in Sacramento. “There hasn’t been a good rationale,” President Tim O’Connor said of Gov. Gavin Newsom’s return to office (RTO) order. “What happened during the pandemic (was) the legal industry in general … proved that we could accomplish our work in a virtual setting.”

CASE has been a leading public voice urging Newsom to reconsider his plan to force all state employees to work in offices at least two days per week. The News 10 story marked the sixth time a news outlet has sought an interview with our union’s leadership since departments began rolling out various RTO plans in January. Expect the state’s one-size-fits-all policy to gain more attention—and provide CASE with more opportunities to forcefully argue against it in the media—as the mid-June deadline approaches to apply the plan statewide.

MOU Suggestion Box. While we are a year away from the next round of bargaining, it’s never too soon to collect ideas for future negotiations. You have access to our MOU Suggestion Box, a place for members – and ONLY members – to contribute ideas for new or improved benefits and MOU terms at any time. We are, of course, well aware of the need for the Governor to address continuing salary lags (both within the unit and between state service and local government jobs), so we are hoping to collect your ideas on non-salary MOU items. To complete a suggestion card, click here. (pw: membersmatter22).
