Dear CASE Members:
Tomorrow, June 10, at 8:00am, Senate Budget and Fiscal Review Subcommittee No. 5 will be meeting. Unfortunately, due to the nature of budget negotiations, the agenda was only released moments ago. On the agenda is Issue 47, which can be found on Page 15 of the Subcommittee’s agenda, and describes the Staff’s Recommendation to reject two proposals from the Governor’s May Revision that would have:
1. Provided the Director of Finance with the authority to make reductions to employee compensation achieved through collective bargaining, and if an agreement was not reached before July 1, 2025, the Director would have the authority to reduce compensation for those bargaining units that have failed to reach an agreement, and
2. Suspended collectively bargained salary increases that are scheduled to become effective during fiscal year 2025-26.
At the end of this hearing there will be an opportunity for Public Comment, where members can express to the Legislature CASE’s support of rejecting the Governor’s wage reduction proposals.
If members choose to participate in public comment, there will be a brief opportunity to state your name and position on these issues. Below is a suggested talking point:
· My name is ___, a member of the California Attorneys, Administrative Law Judges and Hearing Officers in State Employment. We support the Legislature’s action on Issue 47 rejecting the Governor’s wage reduction proposals won through collective bargaining.
Sincerely,
The CASE Board of Directors
