CASE BOARD OF DIRECTORS’ UPDATE
COVID-Related Paid Sick Leave Extended. Last week, Governor Newsom signed a bill extending the supplemental COVID-19 paid sick leave benefit for California workers. AB 152 ensures that CASE members, and all state employees, will continue to have access to up to 80 hours of COVID-19 paid sick leave through December 31, 2022 – a benefit set to expire on September 30, 2022 without legislative action.  The leave may be used by employees who are unable to work due to illness, have been advised to quarantine, and those caring for COVID-impacted family members.  The benefit remains available to use for COVID-related sick leave taken since January 1, 2022.

MOU Implementation. CASE continues to monitor the implementation process for the new CASE MOU and will update you on when you can expect to see the retroactive 2.5% GSI payment as soon as we have a date from CalHR and the State Controller’s Office. We continue to wait for CalHR to issue the required pay letter which provides directions to Departments and the SCO on changes under the new MOU. Stay tuned for further updates.
